Tigers open season with impressive win over Bluffton

   GREENCASTLE, IND.-- Greg Hewitt (Sr., Indianapolis/Warren Central) scored twice and assisted on another goal and Jon Klinginsmith (Jr., Columbia, Mo./Hickman) added a pair of scores as the Tigers opened the 1997 season with a 7-2 home win over Bluffton on Monday.

   The Tigers scored four times in the first half to take a 4-1 lead at the break. Hewitt scored the first goal just 8:15 into the contest on a header and Klinginsmith came right back less than a minute later with a breakaway goal that was assisted by goalkeeper Adam Lux (So., Mason, Ohio/Moeller) and Hewitt.

   Hewitt scored his second goal in the 16th minute to make it 3-0 and, following a Bluffton score, Mike Matteucci (Sr., Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) scored on Phil Smith's (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Highlands Ranch) cross to make it 4-1. Klinginsmith added his second score in the second ha    The Old Gold returns to action on Friday when they tangle with Elizabethtown (Pa.) in the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational. Match time is 4:30 p.m.
